Introduction

I'm slightly extraverted with interests that are balanced between what I do for a living (very secure position at the highest level in a major university) and what I do for fun--fitness, reading, movies (and some tv--especially British television and comedy), exploring, and especially music (from classics to blues). I'm middle-of-the-road politically but very concerned about issues of global sustainability, particularly concerning water and agriculture. An interest in recent years has been developing educational programs for young people in the US to see close up how communities in disadvantaged nations have been reclaiming soil, reviving traditions, and improving local health and education. I enjoy people enormously. Finally, this is my first time venturing into a forum like this, and I'm a little nervous about what to expect.
