Nancy and Bob met through SilverSingles and discovered a shared love of golf. Their first date turned into a full-day adventure, from lunch to a round of golf to dinner, and set the stage for a strong connection. Over time, their relationship grew naturally, leading to a joyful wedding with their children, grandchildren and close friends.
How did you meet? What was your first date like?
We both enjoy playing golf, so that’s what we did on our first date. First we had lunch, then played golf, followed by a lovely dinner. It was a 10-hour first date. My daughter said, “Mom, your first date was like three dates in one!”
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
We went on a weekend getaway to Fallingwater, the beautiful house museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. We had a marvelous time exploring, talking, dining, and most importantly, enjoying each other’s company.
What can you tell us about the proposal?
It came about quite naturally. We realized we wanted to be together forever and decided, “Let’s do it—let’s get married.”
What can you tell us about the wedding?
We got married in December, with just our children and grandchildren. The ceremony took place in a tiny chapel on a beautiful university campus in Pennsylvania. As we exchanged vows, there were tears of joy and lots of laughter! It was supposed to pour that day, so we bought clear umbrellas to stay dry. It didn’t rain, but we thought it would be fun to use the umbrellas anyway for photos. It was a spectacular day, thoroughly enjoyed by all!
What advice would you give other SilverSingles members who are still looking for love?
Put yourself out there. You never know what life might have in store for you!
